Product Description

Advanced Stalk and Straw Fired Boilers for Agricultural Waste Power Generation

Usage and Application

Stalk and straw-fired boilers are at the forefront of agricultural waste-to-energy conversion. Burning field residues—such as cotton stalks, wheat straw, corn stalks, and rice husks—presents massive environmental benefits by preventing open-field burning. However, these fuels are notoriously difficult to burn due to their high alkali metal and chlorine content, which typically causes severe slagging (melting ash) and aggressive high-temperature corrosion on boiler tubes. Our stalk-fired boilers are specifically engineered to conquer these extreme chemical challenges, ensuring that biomass independent power producers (IPPs) can maintain continuous, profitable, and stable base-load power generation.

Technical Advantages To handle the unique combustion profile of agricultural stalks, we offer two primary state-of-the-art firing technologies: the Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) and the Grate.

For multi-fuel versatility, our advanced CFB boilers are designed to handle complex blends, such as a mix of 10% soft straw (rice/wheat) combined with 90% hard straw (cotton stalk, fruit tree wood, and peanut shells). These units feature an under-bed heated smoke and gas ignition technology, a lower dense phase area, and an upper lean phase area. The separation is handled by high-efficiency upper air-exhausting volute-styled insulated cyclone separators.

Alternatively, our 75 t/h vibrating grate boilers are optimized for fuels like cotton and corn stalks. These utilize suspended firing combined with layer firing. To combat alkali corrosion, the second flue houses specialized film-type superheaters, and the operating temperatures are strictly controlled below the ash-fusion point of the specific straw being burned, entirely eliminating the risk of catastrophic slagging.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • How do you prevent the alkali in the straw from corroding the superheater tubes? Straw contains high levels of potassium and chlorine, which cause severe high-temperature corrosion. We mitigate this by utilizing carefully calculated thermodynamic parameters to keep metal wall temperatures strictly controlled. We also utilize specialized high-grade alloy steels that have passed rigorous high-temperature erosion resistance testing.

  • Can a single boiler burn both soft straw (like rice husks) and hard stalks (like cotton wood)? Yes. Our CFB designs are highly adaptable. For example, our 130 t/h units are explicitly calibrated to smoothly co-fire soft straws and hard stalks simultaneously, allowing power plants to adapt to whichever agricultural waste is currently in season without shutting down.

  • What is the advantage of a water-cooled vibrating grate for stalk fuel?

Unlike a static grate, a water-cooled vibrating grate periodically shakes, which constantly levels the fuel bed and breaks up any clinkers (fused ash) before they can grow large enough to block airflow. The water cooling protects the grate mechanics from the intense heat of the combustion zone, ensuring a long operational lifespan.
