Product Description
High-Efficiency Blast Furnace Gas (BFG) Fired Boilers
Usage and Application Blast furnace gas is a major industrial byproduct in the metallurgical sector, but it possesses a low combustible content of carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen (H2) at only about 25%. This results in an extremely low heating value of 3050 to 3470 kj/NM3. Because of its narrow combustible range, low burning temperature, and unstable pressure, BFG is prone to flamed pulse and blow-off. Our highly specialized BFG fired boilers are engineered to overcome these volatile characteristics, effectively converting this waste gas into high-quality steam for power generation. Utilizing this gas significantly reduces a power plant's operational costs and lowers environmental pollution while improving social benefits.
Technical Advantages Our BFG boilers are designed to safely and efficiently combust pure blast furnace gas or a combination of mixed fuels, including coke oven gas, converter gas, natural gas, and coal. Our capacity ranges from 75 t/h to 480 t/h, spanning pressure grades from low to ultra-high pressure.
For large-scale utility applications, such as our 480 t/h ultra-high pressure models, the boiler is equipped with advanced features including once medium reheating, a four-angle circle of contact firing system, and balanced ventilation. To ensure long-term structural stability, these high-capacity boilers utilize a full-steel, full-suspension structure with a double-column arrangement. Additionally, we integrate intelligent temperature regulation, such as an excessively heated steam temperature adjustable two-grade water supply spraying device and a reheating steam temperature adjustable smoke and gas baffle.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Blast Furnace Gas (BFG) Fired Boilers
-
Why is blast furnace gas difficult to burn, and how does your boiler handle it? Blast furnace gas is challenging because its combustible components (CO and H2) only make up about 25% of the gas, resulting in a very low heating value and a narrow combustible range. It also suffers from unstable pressure, which can cause flamed pulse and blow-off during combustion. We overcome this by utilizing advanced firing technologies—such as the four-angle circle of contact firing on our high-capacity models—and by designing the boiler to smoothly co-fire BFG with higher-energy fuels like coke oven gas or coal to guarantee flame stability.
-
Can these boilers operate on multiple types of gas? Yes, our boilers are engineered for maximum fuel flexibility. They can operate on pure blast furnace gas or utilize mixed fuel configurations that incorporate coke oven gas, converter gas, natural gas, and even coal. This ensures uninterrupted steam production even if the primary gas supply fluctuates.
-
What capacity ranges and pressures are available? We offer a wide operational range to suit both heavy industrial applications and utility-scale power generation. Our capacities range from 75 t/h up to 480 t/h, with pressure ratings spanning from low pressure up to ultra-high pressure (such as 13.7 MPa).
-
What structural design is used for high-capacity BFG boilers? To ensure long-term structural integrity and safe operation, our large-scale units (like the 480 t/h model) feature a full-steel, full-suspension structure with a double-column arrangement, often designed for an open-air layout.
